Keeping it running
The foreground service, reboot survival, and per-phone battery settings.
Android's battery optimizers are aggressive about killing background apps. Levix Host runs as a foreground service with an ongoing notification, so the system leaves it alone while it shows WhatsApp: Connected, ⏳ Reconnecting, or ⏸️ Paused (No Internet).
Built-in resilience
- Survives reboot — the host restarts itself after the phone reboots.
- Smart pause & auto-reconnect — airplane mode or a dropped connection pauses retries instead of burning them; when connectivity returns, Levix resets the retry counter and reconnects within a couple of seconds.
- Offline alerts — a high-priority notification if Wi-Fi, mobile data and WhatsApp all drop, which dismisses itself once the connection is back.
Manufacturer battery settings
Some manufacturers add their own battery layer on top of Android's. To keep Levix connected with the screen locked:
| Manufacturer | What to do |
|---|---|
| Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO | Settings → Apps → Manage apps → Levix: enable Autostart, set Battery saver to No restrictions, then lock the app card in Recents. |
| Samsung Galaxy | Settings → Apps → Levix → Battery → Unrestricted, and add Levix to Settings → Battery → Never sleeping apps. |
| OnePlus / OPPO / Realme | Settings → Apps → App management → Levix → Battery usage: allow foreground activity, background activity and auto-launch. |
| Pixel / stock Android | Settings → Apps → Levix → Battery: set to Unrestricted. |
Media
FFmpeg is bundled inside the APK (a per-ABI libffmpeg.so, ARM64 or ARMv7 to match your APK) — !tts voice notes are transcoded into real WhatsApp PTT audio, and video/image thumbnails render locally. No Termux, no external packages.
Data & updating
Everything lives in the app's private storage: the SQLite database, logs and AI memory files. Cloud backup is deliberately switched off (allowBackup=false in the manifest) — the app holds your WhatsApp session and sealed keys, and those should not silently ride into a cloud backup. On a rooted device you can copy the private directory directly (/data/data/net.leviro.levix); without root there is no supported backup path.
To update, install the new APK directly over the old one. Your database, WhatsApp pairing, settings and password all stay intact.
